James Point is a surf spot located on Eleuthera that has a couple of different breaks to check out. It's a bit more off the beaten path compared to other spots, but the waves can be worth the effort. You can get there via a fairly decent dirt road along the north side of the salt pond. This area used to require a four-wheeler to access, but now it’s more accessible for everyone. It's about a walk around the bay or a long paddle, so be prepared. The wave breaks over uneven reef and can handle sizes up to 3 feet (about 1 meter), making it ideal for expert surfers looking for a challenge. Keep in mind that the preferable wind is from the Southeast and low to mid tide works best.

Besides the waves, the area is known for big sea life, so keep an eye out while you’re paddling around. Watch your step on the rocks, because they can be pretty treacherous with incoming waves, and don't underestimate the sea urchins lurking about.
