Overview
Jucar is one of the best waves in the area, shaped by long jetties at the rivermouth that focus and organise the sandbars. It throws up peaky, sometimes hollow beachbreak peaks, with a longer right and a shorter left folding back into the jetty. There's a second left and a few more peaks on the other side, though that side is less consistent and not as cleanly shaped.
When It Works
The banks break over sand and favour the right. Jucar draws swell from north through east-northeast to southeast (N-ENE-SE), with northeast the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for west offshore wind. The sandbanks work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers. It's an easy break to find and a popular one, so expect a busy lineup whenever it's on. Keep in mind the water can be dirty from river and urban pollution.
