Accessing Kahuku Ranch involves driving down a rough road, especially the last mile or so, so be prepared for some bumps along the way. The location can sometimes feel remote, but it offers a unique surf experience for those who make the trip.

The surf here works well with south swells and can also hold some west swells. It can handle wave sizes starting from 2 feet (around 0.6 meters) and gets more powerful with stronger swells. The waves break over an uneven reef, producing both left and right rides. For the best experience, it’s advisable to surf during low to mid to high tides, and the ideal wind direction is from the Northeast. Keep in mind that this spot is suited for intermediate surfers due to its challenging conditions.

Be aware that the road gets quite rough as you head towards South Point, and even 4x4 vehicles might find it tricky around the trails. Kahuku Ranch is a good option if you're looking for varied surf with less crowd, just ensure you check the conditions before heading out!
