Ko Chan, also known as Hedo Point, is a surf spot on the north side that tends to be less crowded than other areas. It’s a bit of a trek to get there, so it’s not exactly next door. If you're up for the drive, you’ll find a spot that works better in the summer with the right conditions.

This spot is mainly for experts. The waves at Ko Chan work best with an east swell, but it can handle northeast and east directions too. It generally handles swell sizes from about 2ft (0.6 meters) and goes off best with the south winds. The waves break over live coral, and you can expect right-handed waves here. The take-off is steep, and after you get past the initial drop, there's a smooth 30m section that you can work with, but be ready for a hollow barrel right at the start. Mid to high tide is the way to go for the best ride.

Keep in mind that this spot is definitely for skilled surfers given the conditions and the reef setup. If you're not at that level, it might be worth looking for somewhere else. So, check the swell and wind direction before heading out, and make sure you're ready for what Ko Chan has to offer.
