La Corniche is a beach break that peels over uneven reef, throwing up both lefts and rights. It sits on the Côte Bleue, where the main beach of Sausset-les-Pins is the area's surf hub. Lately the peaks have been shifting towards l'Hermitage, apart from the treacherous, rocky left of La Dalle. Right next to the port, Menhir is a reliable right-hander, and the two reefs of Les Tamaris west of the city are worth a look too.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from southwest through southeast (SW-SE), with southwest swell the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, so there's a decent working window once a swell fills in. Overall it's moderately consistent, so it pays to time your sessions around the better forecasts.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast offshore wind to clean things up. La Corniche can work through most of the tide, across low, mid and high water, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The wave suits intermediate surfers best. Expect a busy lineup with a mix of abilities when it's on, so be ready to share the peaks.
Access
Facilities are well covered here, with restrooms, showers, camping, a lifeguard, a surf school and a surf shop all on hand. For parking, there's a car park with free parking as well as roadside spots.
