La Izquierda is a left-hand reef break on Fuerteventura's north coast, sitting just west of the Bubble but far easier to ride. Expect fuller walls with the odd hollow section, all breaking over an uneven reef.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from west through north to east, and while it favours northeast swells it picks up just about anything going. It's a very consistent wave, so there's usually something to ride here when other spots go quiet. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind, though the break also handles some east wind. It works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. Keep in mind that low tide exposes a blanket of urchins on the reef.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate wave, well suited to surfers who want fuller, more forgiving walls than the Bubble next door. It pulls a steady crowd of travellers, so expect a busy lineup when it's on.
