La Tour surf guide

La Tour is a surf spot located near Cap d'Antibes, named after a broken tower that you can see standing in the water. It's known to host one of the longest lefts in the Alpes Maritime area. This spot can handle some small swells, starting from around 1 foot (0.3 meters), though you'll want to be cautious with your timing and approach. It's a relatively popular spot for surfers, especially when conditions line up just right.

The ideal swell direction for La Tour is from the south, but it also works with west swells. The waves break over an uneven reef, which can make things tricky, especially if there's a lot of power in the swell. With a preference for left waves, this spot definitely attracts intermediate surfers who are looking to catch some fun rides. If you want the best conditions, aim for a northeast wind and keep an eye on the tide; it works at low, mid, and even high tide, which gives you some room to play with the timing.

If you're heading out to La Tour, it's a good idea to wear booties, as the reef can get a bit rough on your feet. And in case the winds are really strong from the east, you might want to check out Marina Baie des Anges as an alternative spot to surf.
