Labadi Beach sits on the other side of Accra from Kokrobite and serves up a similar short, dumpy beachbreak over sand. It throws up both lefts and rights, and while the waves are usually small and punchy, there is normally a paddle channel somewhere, so the beach can handle the odd overhead day.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from southwest through southeast, with south swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and is moderately consistent, so rideable windows come around often enough without ever being guaranteed.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind, and get down early: the afternoon sea breeze tends to turn the whole beach really messy. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The gentle, forgiving beachbreak makes this a solid option for beginners, and the lineup usually stays fairly quiet.
Access
There is a charge for beach access, and the beachfront is lined with expensive hotels. Be aware that the water can get very polluted here, since tankers dump septic waste nearby.
