Overview
Lagoinha do Leste is a powerful beach break that rewards the effort it takes to get there, breaking both left and right over sand at a quiet, out-of-the-way corner of the coast. The waves are strong and often empty, which is a big part of the draw.
When It Works
The banks pick up swell from east to south, and the spot is perfectly angled for southeast (SE) swell. When it lines up you get sharp drops and some fast rides, especially once the lagoon opens up and carves out a few channels. It stays fairly consistent, and works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind to clean things up. The beach can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers who are comfortable with a punchy drop. The lineup tends to stay fairly quiet. If you want easier access or mellower waves, Praia do Azores just to the south is a good bet, as are the long right-handers off the point at Solidao.
Access
Lagoinha do Leste is hard to reach, so plan on hiking or taking a boat in. Parking nearby is restricted.
