Overview
Lagtoua is a pair of long right-hand pointbreaks that peel down dune-backed points near a big fishing village, about an hour's drive south and just over the Tropic of Cancer. The waves break over a mix of uneven reef and sand, giving you two proper right points to work with.
When It Works
The points draw swell from west through north (W-N), with a northwest (NW) swell the best match. They're usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, so there's a wide working window here. Lagtoua sucks in plenty of swell and holds size well, and it stays consistently rideable when you make the trip out.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east (E) offshore wind to clean things up. The points work across low, mid, and high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a solid setup for intermediate surfers. Expect a quiet lineup, with only the few travellers who camp out on the beach in the water.
Access
Camping is the way to stay here, and parking is free with room to pull up roadside. One important safety note: don't stray off the tracks, as there are still mines in this area.
