Lahinch is a sandy beach break sitting right in a friendly little surf town that has something for riders of every ability. The bank has good shape and peels both left and right, and because it is such an easy place to score, expect a busy lineup whenever it is on.
When It Works
The beach picks up swell from southwest through northwest (SW-NW), with a west swell the best match for clean, well-shaped peaks. It is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, so there is a wide working window from small, mellow days up to bigger, more serious surf.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east offshore wind to groom the faces. The beach works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. Take some care around high tide, when the beach gets covered.
Local Tips
This is a genuinely beginner-friendly spot. Locals tend to surf the peaks in front of the surf shop, while beginners are better off heading to the gentler peaks to the north. The beach is always busy, so plan for plenty of company in the water.
Access
Lahinch has two car parks in town, offering both free and paid parking, with pay parking in place through the summer. You will also find restrooms, camping, a lifeguard, and both a surf school and surf shop close at hand.
