Overview
Lahinch - Cornish Left is a reef wave breaking over a rock ledge, sitting just south of the neighbouring Left. It runs a similar set-up but comes through faster, hollower and shallower. It's mainly a left, though the peak can also throw a right that heads toward Shit Creek.
When It Works
Cornish draws swell from the southwest through to the northwest, and it lines up best on a west (W) swell. The wave is usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, giving a solid working range to aim for. Consistency is moderate, so it's worth timing your session for when the swell and conditions line up.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east (E) offshore wind to clean it up. The reef works across low, mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is friendly enough for beginners, and the lineup stays moderately busy when it's on. To get out the back, paddle between the Left and Cornish.
