Laniakea is a decent right-hander that peels over boulders just north of the marina. It shares its name with a famous Hawaiian break, so don't mix the two up. The spot has long been popular with surfers coming from Lima.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), and it lines up best on a southwest swell. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. Consistency is moderate, so count on worthwhile windows when the setup lines up rather than rideable waves every day.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The right-hander is mellow enough for beginners to get a feel for reef surfing. Expect a busy lineup when it's on.
Access
There are restrooms, a lifeguard, and a surf school on hand. For parking, you have a car park alongside paid and roadside options.
