Overview
Las Lisas is a river mouth left breaking over sand, and it sidesteps the shorebreak set-up you find elsewhere along this stretch, which leaves room for bigger, longer rides. South of the town beachbreak, the left sandbar off the rivermouth can line up fun, whackable walls. Rips are the catch here, and on the wrong day they can spoil an otherwise good session.
When It Works
Swell arrives from southwest through southeast, and south is the direction that lines the sandbar up best. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there is a decent window to play with. Consistency is middling, but the waves are worth the wait when the sandbar and the swell come together.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers. Expect a quiet lineup most of the time.
Access
Getting here means a long drive in on the inland freeway, which is a big part of why it stays so uncrowded.
