More about Last Chance surfspot
If nowhere else in this area is working properly then there is a good chance of finding something worth while at the appropriately named Last Chance. Last Chance can have a fast, hollow, lefthander peel down a boulder-lined point in most swells. It is best on a mid sized N-E swell and mid tide, but getting down to the waves over the private property can be tricky and localism has been known to be an issue.
From Napier, head north on Pandora Road State Highway 2, onto Meeanee Quay and Main North Road out of the city. Continue on State Highway 2 through Wairoa, then at Nuhaka go straight through the roundabout onto Nuhaka Opoutama Road. Continue straight onto Mahanga Road, when you get just past Lake Rotopounamu on the right. From here you will have to seek permission from the farmer to cross his land to drive down the hill to the point.
Experienced surfers only and don't arrive with a big posse.
