Lawsons Bay is Visag's best right, a long point in the town of Kailashgiri that peels for more than 500 metres from take-off all the way to the beach. It breaks over a rock ledge and sand, and the ride packs a lot in: a run of cutbacks before the wave reforms, with some fun action close to shore off the backwash.
When It Works
The point draws swell from southwest through north to northeast (SW-N-NE) and is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. It's moderately consistent, so it pays to time your window. The outside section needs to be glassy to be rideable, and the rock suck-outs can look intimidating, but they're exactly what give the wave its powerful sections.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind to clean it up. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an approachable, beginner-friendly right, and the lineup tends to stay quiet. One thing to keep in mind is water quality, as the spot picks up residential and stormwater pollution carried down by the river.
