Le Virage is a rocky bay where a usually messy beachbreak finds a few corners as the tide pushes in. On its day it can transform into a defined reefbreak with real shape and power. The bottom is a mix of uneven reef and sand, and it peels both left and right.
When It Works
The bay draws swell from southwest through north, and a northwest (NW) swell is what lifts those messy corners into a defined, powerful reefbreak. It's a consistent spot, so there are usually waves to be found, and it works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
A southeast (SE) offshore wind cleans it up. It breaks through low, mid, and high tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call, since the incoming water is what helps the bay find its corners.
