Overview
Les Allassins is a sand-bottomed beach break sitting about 300m south of Vert-Bois, in what's probably the most popular surfing area around, though there's still room for everyone. Where offshore rocks block some of the swell reaching Vert-Bois, Les Allassins always picks up a little more, and the bank throws up both lefts and rights.
When It Works
The break draws swell from southwest through northwest, with a west swell the best match, and it stays fairly consistent. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Autumn is when it tends to have its best days.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. It can work across low, mid, and high tide, but a rising tide is the better call, since the incoming push helps build the size and shape.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a busy lineup when it's on.
Access
There's a car park with free parking, along with restrooms, showers, camping, a lifeguard, and a surf school.
