Lespecier surf guide

Lespecier is a small, kind of isolated surf resort that's tucked away from the hustle and bustle. It's got endless peaks in each direction, which means there’s usually something fun to ride. Although it can feel a bit unappealing when the onshores pick up or when the conditions get overhead, it’s still worth checking out if you’re in the area. Outside of the busy month of August, you’ll find plenty of space in the water, allowing for a more relaxed surf experience.

The best time to surf Lespecier is when the swell is coming from the Northwest, and it can handle sizes starting at 1 ft (about 0.3 m). You’ll find both left and right breaking waves over a sandy bottom, making it a decent spot for those who have some experience. The wind is typically better from the east, and this spot works well at low, mid, and high tide, although you might want to keep an eye on the conditions as they can vary. Overall, it’s pretty suitable for intermediate surfers who are looking to improve their skills.

Besides the surf, keep in mind that there are a lot of currents in the water, which could make things a bit tricky. Accessing Lespecier involves driving in from Bias through the Foret de Mimizan, making it a bit remote, but that might be part of the charm for some surfers looking to escape the crowds.
