Lido's Left surf guide

Lido's Left is a surf spot located in Papua New Guinea that’s known for its strong and consistent waves. It's not the easiest place to paddle out due to a longer distance to the lineup, but you can opt for a short boat ride if that's your style. This spot typically works well in the afternoons, even when the Northwest wind picks up, making it a reliable choice for surfers looking to catch some decent rides.

The waves here primarily break to the left over a shallow reef, which is covered with dead coral and a bit of sand. It handles swell sizes around 3ft (approximately 0.9 meters) and works best with a Northwest swell direction. You might find some good sections as the wave bends through the inside, getting fast and hollow, so it's definitely on the more challenging side. This spot is meant for expert surfers, as the reef poses a risk with its shallow depths. The preferable wind direction is Southwest, and it’s best to surf during low, mid, or high tide.

Keep in mind that Lido's Left is not a beginner-friendly spot, so if you're just starting out, it's better to head over to Town Beach for easier rides. The surf can get pretty intense here, and it's always good to respect the ocean and know your limits.
