Lighthouse is a surf spot located at the entrance to Suva Harbour. It's just a few minutes' boat ride from the Suva yacht club, making it fairly accessible for surfers looking to catch some waves. While it's not the most consistent spot around, it does have its moments that make it worth a visit, especially when the conditions are right.
The right-hand wave at Lighthouse can be decent, particularly when the swell comes from the south. It handles swell sizes as small as 2ft (about 0.6 meters), and is best when the swell direction comes from the southeast or southwest. For the best experience, you'll want to hit it during low to mid or high tides. The wave breaks over live coral, so be mindful of that while you're out there. Intermediate surfers will find this spot suitable, but it’s not for beginners as the wave can pack a punch at times. Northwesterly winds are preferred for cleaner conditions.
Since it's situated near a busy harbor, you might have to deal with some maritime traffic, which can impact your session. The vibe can vary from crowded to empty, depending on the time of day. Keep an eye on local surfers and check the conditions before you head out, as things can change quickly around here.
