Livorno - Il Sale is a surf spot located about 6km south of Livorno harbour, right in the small town of Antignano. It's known for its powerful waves and can attract a lot of surfers looking for a challenging ride. While it can be a fun place to surf, it’s also famous for being quite crowded, so be prepared to share the waves.

The waves here break over an uneven reef, creating A-frame peaks that can give you short but intense rides. It works best with swell coming from the SouthWest but it's also known to handle NorthWest swells. Ideal wave heights are around 2ft to 6ft (approximately 0.6m to 1.8m). You might find some barrel sections going both left and right, but this spot is really suited for expert surfers. Low, mid, and high tides are all suitable, but make sure to catch it during NorthEast winds for the best conditions.

Keep in mind that this spot can get pretty local, and it’s important to respect those already in the lineup. Also, watch out for rocks and sea urchins as they can pop up in the lineup. If you're heading in, be ready for both great waves and a bit of a scene, with plenty of surfers around.
