Overview
Lomé-Rivage is a left-hander that breaks over sand a couple of kilometres east of central Lomé, in the west of Togo. Decent sandbars set up here, held in place by a large jetty that has recently been extended. The spot fronts a private beach with a resort and restaurant popular with expats. A major harbour expansion is underway nearby, which could change the surf, pollution, and access over time.
When It Works
The break draws swell from southwest through southeast, with south swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, peeling left across the sandbars. Consistency can be patchy, so it pays to catch it when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind to clean it up. It surfs through low to mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The waves are forgiving enough for beginners, and the lineup usually stays fairly quiet.
