Overview
Los Cocos is the most popular and reliably consistent break on this stretch, serving up super-fun lefts near the Los Coquitos jetty along with a run of peaks further down the beach. Everything breaks over sand, which keeps the bottom forgiving.
When It Works
The break draws swell from north to east (N-E), and it really lines up on a northeast (NE) swell. The waves peel left and show up often enough to be a dependable option. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a south (S) offshore wind to groom the faces. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Those mellow lefts make Los Cocos a friendly place to learn, so it suits beginners well. Expect a busy lineup when it's on, and the crowd can come with a bit of attitude, so read the pecking order before you paddle out. Pollution is a factor here too, so bear the water quality in mind.
