Los Lobos Surf Forecast Guide

Los Lobos is a world-class right-hand point that peels for up to 400m down the side of a small, uninhabited island just off Corralejo, on the northeastern tip of Fuerteventura. The setting is striking, with a lunar, volcanic landscape and a dormant volcano rising over clear, Caribbean-blue water. It is a genuinely good wave, but it breaks over sharp, uneven lava reef, so it rewards surfers who know what they are doing.

When It Works

The point draws swell from west through north to northeast (W-N-NE), and it comes alive on a north swell. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Smaller days can be sectiony, but a big north swell lines up three tube sections into long, rifling rides. Consistency runs low to medium, so the standout days are worth waiting for. The season spans autumn, winter, and spring.

Wind and Tide

Look for east offshore wind. The point can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Local Tips

This is an expert-level wave for strong paddlers only, best suited to a shortboard, or a gun when it is big. Expect a busy lineup when it fires, with a competitive but tolerant local crew.

Access

Getting there takes some effort. Reach the island by ferry or private boat, with ferries running mid-morning around 10am and the last return near 16:30, then about a 20-minute walk from the port to the break. Jetskis will carry surfers across, but they are expensive. Camping overnight requires a permit, and there is nothing on the island, so bring all your own supplies. The entry and exit can be tricky, with urchins carpeting the reef.
