Overview
Loughros More Bay is a mostly empty beachbreak just northwest of the town of Ardara, reached along a stretch of bumpy blacktop. Two separate beaches run down to the rivermouth, and the sand peaks break both left and right.
When It Works
The bay draws swell from the southwest through northwest, with northwest the best match. It needs some west in the swell to push into the two beaches that stretch toward the rivermouth. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast offshore wind, and note that the bay picks up a bit of shelter from northerly winds. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
With its forgiving sand-bottom peaks, this is a friendly spot for beginners finding their feet.
Access
Turn off before Rossbeg to reach the bay. Parking is limited outside the caravan park, though there is free roadside parking, and camping is available.
