Overview
Louro is a good-quality, southwest-facing beachbreak in a beautiful, quiet corner of Spain that stays peaceful even in summer. Waves peel both left and right over sand, and the lineup rarely gets busy.
When It Works
Louro really becomes an option on extreme southwest swells, large northwest swells, or when north winds are blowing. It draws swell from southwest to northwest (SW-NW), with northwest (NW) swell the best match. The beachbreak works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft; outside that range it tends to be too small or too big to bother.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast (NE) offshore wind. The beach works on most tides, from low through high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a wave for expert surfers. Expect a quiet lineup — it is rarely crowded, even in the height of summer.
Access
There is free parking and camping is possible, with no hassles on either front. Beyond that, do not count on much: there are no real beach facilities.
