Lwandile is a right-hand point that breaks over uneven reef and sand, and it's essentially Mdumbe's twin. As with Mdumbe, the length of ride leans heavily on the sand, so the beachbreak tends to be pretty average and the point section is what you come for. It's a genuine mission to reach, with no accommodation any closer than Presley's Bay.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from east through south, with southeast swell the best match, and it stays consistent even on smaller days. The rocky outside point section is where it gets serious: fast and challenging at low tide when an overhead southeast swell lands. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for west offshore wind, though it also holds up in some southwest wind. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert wave that demands real comfort in the water. Far more sharks have been sighted here than back at Mdumbe, so it's worth keeping in mind. The lineup rarely gets busy.
