MacMasters Point Surf Forecast Guide

MacMasters Point is a right-hand point on the far side of the bay, close to the pool, breaking over boulders. The take-off is critically steep and feeds into powerful bowl sections that throw over some bigger rocks, so it rewards surfers who can commit from the first drop.

When It Works

The point sleeps until a chunky east-to-south winter swell wraps in. It draws swell from east through south, with southeast (SE) the best match, and is usable from 1.5 m / 5 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. It can be somewhat inconsistent, so it pays to time your session to a solid swell window.

Wind and Tide

Look for southwest (SW) offshore wind. The point works through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Local Tips

This is an expert-only wave. The boulder bottom is sharp and the steep take-off leaves little room for error, so it suits confident, experienced surfers. Expect a busy lineup when it's on, with locals who like to keep the spot to themselves.

Access

Facilities include restrooms, showers, and lifeguard cover. For parking there's a car park with free parking, along with paid and roadside options. Keep in mind it's a long drive from Copa on the main road, even though it looks close down the beach.
