Overview
Macaronis Right is a right-hand reef break that peels over live coral inside the deep-water anchorage of Teluk Pasangan, across the bay from the far more famous Macaronis Left. It sits overshadowed and usually ignored by the constant charter traffic that pours in for the Left. When it lines up, the wave flips between long, carvable walls and the odd throwing tube section.
When It Works
It takes specific conditions to show its colours. You want a decent swell from the south to southwest (S-SW), with a south swell the best match, and it works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. Without that combination it tends to stay flat or unruly, so timing matters here.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast offshore wind to groom the reef. It also needs plenty of water, working on mid to high tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call since the extra depth helps smooth out the juts in the reef.
Local Tips
This is an approachable, intermediate-friendly wave, and a genuinely nice option to have in your back pocket when the lineup across the bay at Macaronis Left is thick with crowds.
