Overview
Marske to Tees is a long stretch of average beachbreaks running from Marske all the way up to the South Gare breakwater. The sand-bottomed beaches are split at their mid-point by Redcar Scars, and the banks throw both lefts and rights along the way.
When It Works
The stretch picks up swell from north through east-northeast to southeast, with a north swell the best match. It comes to life once there is a bit of size and works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so anything smaller struggles and anything much bigger gets out of hand.
Wind and Tide
Look for a south offshore wind to clean things up. It surfs across low, mid, and high water, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Access
There is access and parking at various points along the stretch, with a mix of roadside parking and a car park to choose from.
