Overview
Middle Beach is a beach break tucked among the seasonally shifting sandbars and peaks between Westport and Bellochantuy Bay. The waves peel both left and right over a mix of uneven reef and sand, so the shape shifts as the banks move through the year.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from the west through northwest (W-NW), with a straight west (W) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, covering everything from small days to more serious size when a bigger swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind to groom the peaks. The bank works across low, mid, and high tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call.
Access
Reaching the break means driving past the military base, with entry points scattered along the main road. There's a car park with paid parking.
