Westport Surf Forecast Guide

Overview

Westport is a fickle, tide-dependent beach break at the north end of Macrihinish Bay that can turn on and get epic when everything lines up. Sandbars at the north end shape the peaks, which break over a mix of uneven reef and sand and peel both left and right.

When It Works

The break draws swell from west through northwest, with a straight west (W) swell the best match. It is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and being tide-dependent, it needs the right window to come together.

Wind and Tide

Look for an east (E) offshore wind to clean it up. Westport works on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Access

There is a car park right on the corner of the A89 overlooking the beach, with free parking, plus roadside parking nearby.
