Millers is a right-hand reef at Miller's Point, sitting just south of Shark Rock Pier and Hobie Beach. Most of the time it's a mellow, messy affair breaking over a sand-and-rock ledge, and it needs some east in the swell to find any real punch. But on the dozen or so good days a year it genuinely fires, serving up long rides and barrels that simply aren't there when the surf is small.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from east through south to southwest (E-S-SW), and a south swell is the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, and it takes some east in the direction to give the wave the extra shove it wants. Swell shows up reliably here, so you'll get plenty of chances to catch it on song.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west offshore wind. The reef can work through low, mid, and high tide, but a rising tide is generally the better call, and the standout days tend to come when the tide is full.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers. Expect a busy lineup when it's working, and it can turn a little aggro on the best days. When the wave links all the way up to the Hobie beachbreak, just walk back up the beach and paddle out again.
Access
There's plenty on hand at the beach, including restrooms, showers, a lifeguard, camping, and both a surf school and surf shop. For parking you've got a car park with free spaces alongside paid, metered, and roadside options.
