Overview
Moliets Plage is a sand-bottom beach break that peels both left and right along the French coast. The central beach sits on shifty sandbanks that can close out, but the nearby Huchet River mouth, fed by Leon Lake, often shapes cleaner sandbars that hold better form.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from west through north (W-N), with northwest swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and the break is consistent, so there are usually rideable peaks somewhere along the sand.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call, and the lower-tide sandbars tend to hold the cleaner shape.
Local Tips
This is a solid intermediate beach break. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it fires, with surf camps and traveling surfers adding to the numbers, so spread out and steer clear of the busiest peaks.
Access
There's a full set of facilities here: restrooms, showers, a lifeguard, a surf school, and a surf shop, plus camping right by the beach. Parking is easy, with a free car park.
