Monseigneur Bay, also known as Monseigneur Baie, is the classic regional reefbreak and a genuine right-hander. It peels for around 150 metres over an uneven reef, running from a deep peak into shallow, flat rock covered in live coral and urchins.
When It Works
The break draws swell from southwest through north to northeast, with southwest (SW) swell the best match. It is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency is moderate rather than reliable, but the payoff is long rides when it lines up. The wave tends to fire through winter, roughly April to July, when south swells arrive.
Wind and Tide
Look for offshore wind from the west (W). The reef can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediates and above; only the complete novice will feel out of place on the shallow reef. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it works, with a small crew of friendly locals and no real edge to the vibe.
