Nansha Beach, Zhujia Island surf guide

Nansha Beach, located on Zhujia Island, is a private stretch of sand that's pretty well-known for its annual sand castle competition. Access to the beach usually goes through local hotels, so it's a good idea to check with them first. You can reach Zhujia Island via the Zhoushan Putuoshan Airport, which has national flights, or take a ferry from Beilun, near Ningbo. The beach is surrounded by the village of Nansha, making it a unique spot to chill and catch some waves.

The surf at Nansha Beach offers several fun peaks with a sandy bottom. The best swells come from the Southeast, but you can also catch good waves from the East and South. The waves break left and right, making it beginner-friendly. You'll find that it handles swell sizes starting from about 1 foot (0.3 meters), and it's best to surf during low to mid tides or even high tides. If the wind comes from the Northwest, that’s ideal for a better surfing experience.

While it’s a great place for beginners, keep in mind that the conditions are pretty laid-back, so it might not always be the most exciting for advanced surfers. It's good for practicing your skills and having a few laughs on the water. Just remember that the overall vibe is pretty chill, so don't expect huge crowds or competition here.
