Nanchangtu Bay, Shengsi Island surf guide

Nanchangtu Bay is a beach located on Shengsi Island, just south of Jinsha Beach, which is about 1.5 km away. It has a long sandy stretch in front of Nanchang village, offering a nice spot for surfers looking to catch some waves. The vibe here is pretty laid-back, making it a decent place to spend a day surfing.

The surf at Nanchangtu Bay features beach breaks that create fun and punchy waves, which are suitable for beginners. The best conditions typically arise with south-east swell, but it can handle swells coming from the east and south as well. When the swell is around 1 foot (0.3 meters), the waves can be quite enjoyable. The waves tend to break both left and right, giving surfers a bit of choice. Late in the day, when the wind comes from the north-west, it tends to clean up the waves nicely. However, on larger swells, particularly during typhoon season, the waves can sometimes close out, so keep an eye on conditions.

The spot works well at low, mid, and high tide, making it flexible for different surf sessions throughout the day. While the bay has its fun moments, keep in mind it might not be the most consistent surf spot, and conditions can change quickly. It's a good idea to check the surf reports before heading out.
