Overview
Nemiña is a west-facing beachbreak and rivermouth on a picturesque, remote stretch of coast that stays quiet for most of the year. The waves break over sand, with several good peaks to choose from and a fast left peeling off the Ria de Lires. It is a scenic setting, though the beach took the full brunt of the 2002 Prestige oil spill, so you may still come across some oil on the sand.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from the southwest through north (SW-N), with west swell the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and the shifting peaks serve up both lefts and rights. As a consistent break, it tends to have rideable waves more often than not. Keep an eye out for rips moving through the lineup.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. Nemiña breaks across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers. The lineup is rarely crowded, so you can usually find a peak to yourself.
Access
There is free parking, a lifeguard on the beach, and camping nearby.
