Overview
New Jetty is a short, hollow sandbar right that peels off the south side of the jetty just north of El Porto. It breaks over sand and stays a bit sheltered from the northwest thanks to the jetty. The north side of the same jetty, known as Hammerland, is a different animal, throwing big, steep close-out barrels when large winter swells roll through.
When It Works
The sandbar draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with southwest (SW) the direction it likes best. It really comes alive on a west swell paired with lower tide, though a small southwest pulse will also get it going. Expect a right that works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency is moderate, so it pays to catch it when the swell and tide line up.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind to clean it up. The bar favors low tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.

Park at the pay lot at El Segundo Beach, at the western end of Grand Avenue in El Segundo.
