Surf: Nii-jima was once a WCT contest-site thanks to the consistent beachbreak at Habushiura which can line-up and peel for long, hollow rides. There are at least 9 other named breaks on both sides of the island below the koga volcanic cliffs and Secrets on the SE corner is one of Japan's best waves. Environment: Super-chilled out place with free-campsite, hot springs and a slow pace of life. Easy ferry links from the mainland make this a must do destination on a Japanese surfari.
