Nu'usafee Island surf guide

Nu'usafee Island, also known as Devils Island, is a surf spot that's all about catching some decent waves. It's got a laid-back vibe and is only accessible by boat, with rentals available from Poutasi. This spot can be a little tricky to reach, but it's worth the journey if you're looking for some swell action.

When it comes to surfing, Nu'usafee Island is a bit of a mixed bag. It really shines with southwesterly swells, and can handle sizes up to about 1 meter (3 ft). The waves break over live coral and are mostly reef breaks, making it ideal for more experienced surfers. You'll find left-hand waves here, and if the tide's mid to high, that's when things can get interesting. The first section demands speed and barrel riding skills, especially since it can get pretty gnarly. The middle and end sections don't link up often, but when they do, the reef curve helps with offshore winds from the northeast, making the barrels a bit more manageable.

For those planning to surf here, keep in mind that this spot is for expert surfers only. Make sure you're comfortable with the challenges of reef breaks and the conditions, as it can be a bit intense. If you're looking for a challenge and some nice barrels, Nu'usafee might just be the spot you want to hit!
