Okanda is a sand-bottom right-hand point about an hour by tuk-tuk from Arugam Bay. It picks up plenty of swell onto a sucky outside sandbar below a whale-shaped rock, while the super-fun walls inside the cove stay offshore. There's decent power on tap.
When It Works
The point draws swell from south through north (S-N), with a southeast (SE) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it's a consistent spot that shows up often.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest (SW) offshore wind, though the inside walls tend to stay offshore anyway. It can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Okanda suits keen intermediates who don't mind the trek out from Arugam Bay. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.
