Old Mans sits at the southern edge of the Canggu stretch, where long, lined-up rights peel along a lava reef. The wave is generally fat and friendly up to head high, and a smaller left shoulders through toward the rocky outcrop. It breaks over a mix of uneven reef and sand and offers both lefts and rights.
When It Works
The break draws swell from south through west, with southwest swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 3 m / 10 ft and can handle some sizable sets that feather a long way out.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. It works across low, mid, and high tide on both rising and falling water, with low tide generally the best call.
Local Tips
Old Mans is a perennial favorite with the longboard and SUP crew, and the mellow, forgiving wave makes it a solid option for beginners too.
Access
Parking is easy, with a car park and paid parking on hand. Watch out for the foot-burning black sand.
