Overview
Olifantsbos Point is a long, powerful right-hander that breaks over an uneven, rocky reef inside the Cape Point Nature Reserve. It rumbles into life when a decent swell arrives and can hold sizeable winter pulses, making it one of the more serious waves on this stretch of the Cape.
When It Works
The point draws swell from southwest through west, with west swell the best match to switch the reef on. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 4.6 m / 15 ft, and the wave stays long and powerful as the size climbs. Consistency is moderate, so you'll want to time a solid pulse rather than expect it on any given day.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast offshore wind, which also lines up nicely with the bigger winter swells. The reef works on mid and high tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate-plus wave. The rocky bottom and some current mean it rewards surfers who are comfortable in a heavier setting, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on. Watch out for the baboons in the reserve, and don't carry any food with you.

Olifantsbos Point sits inside the Cape Point Nature Reserve, which charges a $10 per person entry fee, and there is paid parking on site.
