Padang Padang surf guide

Padang Padang is a well-known surf spot located on the Bukit Peninsula in Bali, Indonesia. It's famous for its challenging waves that can really fire up with the right conditions. This spot attracts surfers from all over the world, both locals and tourists. It's nestled below some cliffs, which means it can be a bit tricky to access but totally worth it for the right wave.

The best waves here break to the left over a shallow reef, and the optimal swell direction is from the SouthWest, although it can also handle swells coming from the South. It tends to work well with swell sizes around 6ft (approximately 1.8 meters). The waves barrel up nicely, but you’ll need to be an expert to tackle this spot as it can get crowded with experienced surfers. The preferred wind direction is SouthEast, and mid to high tide works best for catching good rides. Just be sure to watch for the wave intensity, as it can be pretty hectic, especially when the crowd gets ramped up.

When it finally breaks, Padang Padang can turn into a bit of a mayhem scene, with drop-ins and some fierce competition for waves. It has a reputation for attracting some of the best surfers out there, so if you’re heading in, be ready to put your skills to the test. Just remember, this place requires respect and awareness of the dynamics at play in the lineup.
