Overview
Paris is a stretch of five sheltered bays and cuts in the reef, giving you a whole swathe of fun waves to pick through rather than a single peak. The reef is dead coral, and it throws both lefts and rights. The bays sit protected from the trade winds, which is a big part of the appeal, though the flip side is that everything closes out once it pushes past 4-5 ft (1.2-1.5 m).
When It Works
The reefs pick up swell from south all the way round to north, and northwest is the direction that lines them up best. Paris works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.5 m / 5 ft, and that upper end matters here, because bigger swell shuts the bays down rather than improving them.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind. The bays work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Paris suits intermediate surfers. With five separate bays and cuts to choose from, there's room to move around and find the one that suits the swell on the day.
Access
Getting there is the main consideration. It's only about 30 minutes by boat from London, but going overland turns that into a 2.5 hour trip.
