Overview
Pecém is a beach break set beside a major working port, breaking over a mix of uneven reef and sand and throwing up both lefts and rights. There can be some rights at the mouth of the river, where the rocks hold sand in place, though the water there tends to be dirty.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northwest through north to east (NW-N-E), with northeast (NE) swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and stays moderately consistent, though sitting right next to the busy port means the surf can turn unreliable even in a decent swell.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest (SW) offshore wind. It can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

The waves here suit beginners, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
