Overview
Pipeline is a sand-bottomed beach break near Chia, a smart little town about 50 km southwest of Cagliari on Sardinia's south coast. It's one of several spots around Chia and peels both left and right.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from southwest through northwest, with west (W) swell the best match. It really comes alive on strong west swells, when long right-handers reel along the outside bank and hollow peaks stand up on the inside. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency is only medium, so the good days can be a little hit or miss.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Pipeline suits intermediate surfers. When it does turn on, expect plenty of company in the lineup.
Access
There's free roadside parking close to the break.
