Overview
Playa de Regla is a sand-bottomed beachbreak just south of town, throwing up both lefts and rights. It can turn genuinely hollow when the sandbars line up, and it makes an easygoing option for surfers still finding their feet.
When It Works
The banks pull in swell from south through west-southwest to northwest, and they favour a bit more west, or even southwest, in the mix, with west swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Better still, it can come alive on small summer windswells, so it is worth a look when other spots have gone flat.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast offshore wind. The beach comes in on mid and high tide, and it tends to be at its best on a rising tide, when the hollow, higher-tide sandbars really start to work.
Local Tips
This is a friendly, beginner-suited stretch of beach. Expect a busy lineup though, especially through the summer months.

There is free parking right by the beach, including roadside spots.
